Save Food Cut Waste: A Blog Series to Help Eliminate Food Waste

There have been a number of reports in the last several years about the percentage of food that get's wasted every year in the United States. According to a report from the National Resources Defense Council, as much as 40% of food goes from the farm to the table to the trash. 

According to FoodForward.org, Americans are throwing away 6 billion (yes, Billion with a B) pounds of food EVERY month. Three of the biggest reasons for the food waste are 1. for cosmetic standards and blemishes in fruits and vegetables, 2. consumers overstocking and over purchasing food when they grocery shop, and 3. not understanding the meaning behind sell-by and expiration dates.

In 2013, the government even launched a National Food Waste Challenge and announced a goal to eliminate 50% of the current food waste by 2030.

There are several ways you can take steps to help reduce food waste in your home. We want to do our part by educating consumers the benefits of vacuum packaging and how it can play a huge part in your food waste reduction.
