Meal Prep for Kids: Vacuum sealing grapes for an easy go-to lunch or snack!
Aug 16th 2018
When I was young, I remember going over to my grandparents house in the summertime and my Grandma would pull a small baggie of grapes out of the freezer for us to snack on. It was one of my favorite things ... obviously because I remember it this many years later!
I was at the grocery store stocking up on lunch food for my kids to head back to school, I decided to stock up on grapes because they had an incredible sale on them. I got home with 3 huge bags of grapes and thought to myself... they are never going to eat these all before they go bad. What was I thinking, right??! It was then that I had a flash back to my childhood and my love for frozen grapes. What a genius idea!
I decided to pull out the vacuum sealer and the smallest Pint size vacuum seal bags. I washed the grapes and then divvied them into small portions and loaded several bags.
Then I was able to vacuum seal each individual portion sized bag and throw them in the freezer.
This way, the grapes will not go bad, and I can now put a bag of frozen grapes in their lunch box, and by the time it is their lunch time, they will be thawed enough to eat. (Don't forget to cut a small slit in the side sealed part of the bag to make it easy to open). Or, they could be a perfect after school snack while the weather is still hot! My kids loved it!
Meal prep isn't just for adults' lunch and dinners, think of ways you can save time with your kids lunch and snacks. Vacuum sealing is a great way to accomplish that!
