MODEL USV20 CHAMBER VACUUM SEALER

Can I use mylar bags?

Yes, the seal time settings on the USV20 goes up to 9 seconds to accommodate vacuum sealing thicker mylar bags.

How does the marinating function work?

The marinating feature is a function in which the vacuum sealer will go under a period of vacuum for a 60 second cycle without a seal. We suggest putting your item and marinade in a shallow container (Rubbermaid, glass, etc.) directly into the chamber. Close the lid and start the marinating function. While the chamber is under vacuum, this allows the pores of the meat to open up and infuse the marinade into the meat much faster than a regular marinating process. We recommend repeating the marinating cycle, 3 times.

How do I vacuum seal canisters?

How should the bag/pouch be placed in the chamber?

The opening of the bag should be placed flat and smooth across the seal bar and secured in place with the bag clamp.

What does the E1 Error mean ?

The E1 Error is an indication that the chamber was not able to pull a vacuum and a good seal isn’t forming between the lid and the gasket. After you ensure that the gasket looks to be in good shape, close the lid, press the auto vac and seal button, and then just give a slight press down on the lid. You should see the lid draw down and the vacuum gauge begin to move.

Is it normal to press on the lid to get the vacuum to start?

Yes, this is completely normal. Since the machine is new, it needs time and use for the lid and gasket to 'seat' and form a better seal automatically.

You can lift and pull out the gasket and push it back in all the way around, making sure the fin of the gasket is facing outward. Be sure that it is not pushed in or compressed too far into the gasket channel. Overtime, you'll notice the pressing of the lid will not be as apparent and needed.

Why is there a pressure loss with 2 seconds left?

The short loss of vacuum pressure when there are a few seconds left is when the sealer is switching over to the sealing cycle. The sealer uses vacuum pressure to raise the seal bar into sealing position, and then lowers back down when the seal cycle is complete. It is completely normal and how it is designed to function.

Why is there air left in the bag after vacuum sealing?

There could be a number of reasons and can be hard to give you an exact answer as to why there is air left in the bag since there are so many variables when using a chamber sealer.

  1. Try expelling any extra air prior to putting bag in the chamber
  2. Make sure the opening of the bag isn't' being pinched off during the vacuum cycle. Lay the bag flat across the seal bar with the opening tucked behind the seal bar/underneath the black tabs or with the middle tab inside the bag.
  3. Increase your vacuum time
  4. Add filler to the chamber (small wood cutting board, book, etc.) to occupy more space

There is a lot of trial and error to determine what works best for your application.

Do you sell replacement parts for the USV20?

Yes, the 'wearable' parts (gaskets, seal bar, etc.) on the USV20 are available for purchase here.
Other replacement parts may be available under your product warranty.

What does the E2 Error mean when using the accessory port?

If you are trying to vacuum seal canisters or other containers using the accessory port on the USV20 and you are getting an E2 error, that means that you are not holding down the 'Auto Vac & Seal' button long enough. Press and hold down the 'Auto Vac & Seal' button for a minimum of 2 seconds to start the vacuum from the accessory port.

MODEL USV32 CHAMBER VACUUM SEALER

Can I use mylar bags?

Yes, the seal time settings on the USV32 goes up to 9 seconds to accommodate sealing thicker mylar bags.

How does the marinating function work?

The marinating feature is a function in which the vacuum sealer will go under a period of vacuum for a 99 second cycle without a seal.We suggest putting your item and marinade in a shallow container (Rubbermaid, glass, etc.) directly into the chamber. Close the lid and start the marinating function. While the chamber is under vacuum, this allows the pores of the meat to open up and infuse the marinade into the meat much faster than a regular marinating process. We recommend repeating the marinating cycle, 3 times.

How should the bag/pouch be placed in the chamber?

If there were an ‘official’ way to place the bag it would be the method with the middle tab going inside the bag with the ends of the opening resting on top of the outer tabs so the bag clamp can hold it in place. BUT with that being said, it doesn’t have to be done that way. In fact, the easiest way is tucking it behind the seal bar (underneath the black tabs). The bag placement isn’t too finicky as long as the opening of the bag isn’t being pinched closed.

How do I vacuum seal liquids (soups, stews, marinades)?

When vacuum sealing liquids, it is very important to only fill the bag/pouch about half way full or less to prevent liquids from overflowing in the chamber. Place the bag in the chamber over the seal bar, close the lid and press the 'Auto Vac & Seal' button. During the vacuum cycle, the item will reach boiling point and have a tendency to creep toward the seal bar. If it appears that it will overflow, press the 'SEAL' button or 'CANCEL' button to prevent contents from overflowing in the chamber.

What does the E1 Error mean ?

The E1 Error is an indication that the chamber was not able to pull a vacuum and a good seal isn’t forming between the lid and the gasket.
